Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Hails Turkish President for Helping Somali Terror Victims

Mogadisho Attack

Uganda, Kampala- Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC, the umbrella body of all Muslim organisations in the country has hailed Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his quick response to the Mogadishu bomb attack.

At least 200 people were killed and more than 500 others injured in the terror attack in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday. The attackers used a truck packed with several hundred kilograms of military-grade and homemade explosives.

Haji Nsereko Mutumba, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Spokesperson, says it was a good gesture for Erdogan to dispatch emergency relief and airlift the victims of the bomb attacks to turkey for treatment.

“We must extend our sincere gratitude to the President of Turkey His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his quick response to this barbaric attack by sending planes loaded with relief items and medical personnel to attend to the wounded,” said Mutumba in a statement.

Adding that, “I also thank him for airlifting the wounded to Turkey for urgent medical attention. We need such Muslim leaders during these times when Muslims are being targeted left and right. If Muslim leaders do not stand shoulder by shoulder with their Muslim fraternity worldwide, no one will”.

Mutumba who condemned the terror attack, also hailed the Djibouti and Qatar governments for sending the much needed help to Somalia shortly after the terrorist attack. “I am impressed by the fact that there are Muslim leaders and countries that are ready to take action against all injustices directed at Muslims without fear or favour,” he said.

Medical Aid Reaching Mogadisho
Two planes carrying medical aid provided by the US and Qatar also landed in Mogadishu.

He said that when Palestine came under attack from Zionists, Iran didn’t hesitate to intervene and condemn the oppressors even when it was well aware that the so called world super powers were behind the attackers. “Other Muslims countries did not stand with Palestine because they were afraid of their western allies who are pro-Israel.”

He also says it took the brevity of President Erdogan to speak and help hundreds of Rohingya Muslims wounded and displayed from their homes by the Burmese military.

“Even the UN did not dare stand up against the Myanmar regime when it was clear that there was ethnic cleansing going on. But when Turkey took action and threatened to deploy its military in defense of the Rohingya Muslims, the UN and other western powers started issuing statements condemning the atrocities of the Myanmar regime,” he said.

Adding that, “If all other Muslim countries had the courage displayed by Turkey, Iran and Qatar; the enemies of Islam would have been restrained in many ways. Even the threat of terrorism would have been neutralized, because most of it is perpetuated by the western powers in the name of promoting democracy.
He called up Muslim leaders globally to stop dancing to the tunes of the western.
