Mombasa Court to issue further orders on Joho case

Joho case

Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has filed an application in court seeking to have High Court Judge Lydia Achode, who is hearing the petition challenging the election of Hassan Joho as Mombasa Governor, recuse herself from the case due to bias.

Omar wants the Judge to present the relevant documents in the case to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which he also wants to appoint another judge to handle the petition.

In the application, Omar claims Justice Achode has favored Joho’s lawyers by allowing them excess time to question him and his witnesses, and denying his lawyers time to question Joho.

The court has now suspended the hearing of the case following the application, and is expected to issue further orders on Thursday.
