Jubilee coastal leaders distance themselves from secession calls by NASA

Coastal residents calling for secession

A section of Coastal leaders who are allied to Jubilee Party have distanced themselves from calls of secession fronted by the NASA camp.

The Jubilee leaders, led by Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala accuse the opposition coalition of trying to divide the country, and called on Coast residents to dismiss the calls and focus on developing the region.

This comes just a day, after NASA Coast leaders led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kilifi’s Amason Kingi, on Friday said they will use legal means to achieve their goal, and accused the current and previous governments of marginalizing the region for decades.

The leaders said a series of meetings would be conducted in the region to create awareness among the coastal residents.  Ali Hassan Joho, the Mombasa governor said the new committee will be chaired by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya.

Also mentioned among the committee members are Abdulswamad Nassir, Mvita MP,  Mohammed Faki, Mombasa senator and his Kilifi counterpart Steward Madzayo.

The leaders said that they said will use legal ways to achieve their desired goal.
