ANC Dismisses Zuma’s Sack Rumours

Zuma Sacking, Zuma corruption

A senior leader of South Africa’s governing African National Congress has dismissed speculation that the party is about to sack Jacob Zuma as the country’s president.

Speaking at a press conference after a meeting of the party’s top decision making-body, ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule said they have not arrived at the decision that Zuma must go.

There has been intense speculation about Zuma’s future following the election of his deputy, Cyril Ramaphosa, as ANC leader in December.

Zuma has been dogged by corruption allegations throughout his presidency, and his critics fear that the party will lose votes in next year’s general election if he remains in office until then.
